Scrappy Appliqué is a raw-edge appliqué technique that's fun & approachable for beginners and experienced quilters, alike. It's a crowd favorite!
Portrait Quilting is a raw-edge appliqué technique where you'll turn a photograph into an appliqué design that is quick and simple to create yet produces amazing results.
Many quilters struggle with color and often feel unsure about choosing fabrics. The good news is that an “eye for color” isn’t something you’re born with—it’s a skill that can be learned and developed.
Learn techniques and recipes to create a full rainbow color palette. Along the way, you’ll deepen your connection to the natural world and learn how to help your students do the same.

Hello, I’m Tina Miranda. I am a quilt designer, teacher, and specialist in simplifying the process of choosing colors and fabrics for quilters. I’ve enjoyed a professional career focused on music teaching for K-5 students, and those at the university level. Throughout that time, I’ve gained over 20 years of quilting experience, and still enjoy the process of choosing fabrics and color combinations for my quilts. It’s my favorite part of the quilting process! I love sharing about ways to simplify a fabric pull for any pattern, and support quilters with all levels of experience as they gain confidence using color principles and tools to enhance their creative choices. I enjoy traveling, and spending time with my rescue dog Marty McFly. The technique is so easy to learn and brings out that creativity that you had as a child. Once you learn it, you won't be able to stop. I have been a quilt lover since I received a quilt from my grandpa when I was at my first duty station In Atsugi, Japan. I began quilting in 2014 after being awarded a Quilt of Valor for my time served in Desert Storm and to give back to my military family. I love teaching/coach quilting. I started sewing my own clothes as a teenager, but put that aside when I began wearing fatigues and combat boots. When I decided it was time to start sewing again, quilting wasn’t even on my radar. I thought it would be too hard and too time consuming, I really didn’t understand it. No one in my family quilted, not one person. But I picked it up anyway - when I went to nursing school, so I’ve been quilting for more than 30 years. I’ve always been great at picking fabrics that play well together, most of the time. Sometimes there would be something not quite right but I couldn’t put my finger on it. The problem was subtle enough that I went ahead with the quilt anyway. Since I’ve been through Shannon Brinkley’s color class and have become a certified color teacher I’m much better at spotting those subtle details. Fabric picking is the best/most fun for me, even more so now. I know there are many people who struggle so much that making a quilt is a chore rather than enjoyable. I love helping them learn to see color and have that Ah-ha moment that will bring quilting from a chore to having fun. I enjoy working with quilt guilds and shops.
My favorite thing about Color Confidence for Quilters is the possibilities are endless! Once you know about how color works the more fun it is to create your own quilts.

Hi, I'm Juli, and have been making quilts since the mid-1990s. After leaving the law practice a few years ago, I launched a full-time quilting business and now teach classes, design patterns, provide longarm and custom quilting services, and even make my own quilts every now and then. I became certified as a Color Confidence instructor because I love the fabric/color aspect of quilting, and I found that my students struggle with this area of the craft more than any other.
