I'm so excited to share with you my newest Scrappy Applique pattern - Moths!
For this pattern collection, I chose 3 beautiful moth species: the Giant Silk moth, the Spanish Moon moth, and the Sagebrush Sheep moth. Keep reading to find out how you can get the Moths pattern bundle for FREE!
I've been inspired by moths for a long time. Some are tiny, simple creatures that flitter around our porch lights, while some are giant, fuzzy, strange, and jaw-droppingly beautiful.

I played with different layout options, and ultimately decided upon the full wing layout that really shows off the pattern and symmetry. And since I wanted the focus to be the wings, that is what's included in the collage.

I love the lacy effect that is created with leaving some negative space in the design. These quilts are done using my raw-edge appliqué technique, Scrappy Applique. They look way more intricate/complex than they actually are and can be made quite quickly! (I finished both these quilt tops in 3 days: one day to prep materials, one day to collage, and one to sew them both!)
These 2 samples were also the first quilts I've made entirely from fabric that I hand dyed, so that was a special treat!
This collection contains 3 different moths, each with 3 different sized templates. The 2 that I made samples for above are square, and the suggested finished quilt sizes are 24", 42", and 60" squares (though the background fabric can really be whatever size you'd like). And the third design (see mockup below) is more horizontal rather than square.
We may offer this pattern to the public in the future at about $34 for the bundle of 3 patterns, but right now, you can get all these patterns for free when you join us for the Scrappy Appliqué Workshop in Meander (just $19!)
So for less than the cost of the patterns, you'll get the 3 moth patterns (each with 3 different sizes) plus the full Scrappy Applique Workshop, access to some live Scrappy Applique Workshops in August, 3 additional Scrappy Applique Patterns, and all the other goodness inside Meander!
