"From exploration to expression, the exhibition celebrated the journey of students discovering their unique style."

Our 3-day retreat was designed as both a creative journey and an entrepreneurial mastermind. For the first two days, students were given the freedom to dive into a variety of quilting, dyeing, and sewing techniques, experimenting and exploring as a way to refine their own personal style. The final day focused on the business side of making, where we explored strategies and tools for growing a sustainable craft business. Together, it was a space of discovery, creativity, and empowerment — nurturing both the artist and the entrepreneur within each maker.

Enough is a Feast
Needle turn applique, raw edge machine applique, negative applique, bias tape applique and hybrid interpretations of trapunto, stump work, and negative reverse applique. All the materials were from my "stash" comprised of fabrics from thrift stores & garage sale. Wool roving was also used.
Edna Cooper
Enough is a Feast might have been a pleasing title for Henri Matisse who continued his form, color, and content breaking work into his last years when he was bedridden. There, he abandoned usual paints and canvas for large scissors and papers to create one his most famous works, "Jazz". I wanted to use all "stash" ingredients as my materials for this piece, as I studied Applique techniques this year. I was also doing reading on the effect the textile industry and the consumer mindset on our world. Digging deep into what I already had allowed me to more fully understand that Enough IS a Feast.
Shapes of Segovia
Quilters Cotton
Gail Tennis
While visiting our daughter in Spain, we took a day trip to Segovia, where the breathtaking palace and cathedral left a lasting impression. The intricate shapes and patterns within the architecture and décor inspired me to recreate them through bias tape appliqué.
